Natural Resource Spotlight

RESOURCES WE USE AND WHY WE LOVE THEM!

BAMBOO

Bamboo has an inherent natural barricade against bacteria. Given its antibacterial properties, bamboo is able to grow rapidly as it eradicates most bacteria and inspects that attempt to thrive off it, thus making it a sustainable resource.

What’s more, the antibacterial properties of bamboo tufts aren’t destroyed during manufacturing… which means they remain in the fibre that is produced from the tufts. The antibacterial properties of the plant also allow for it to be naturally odor resistant. This is why we are so happy to offer products like our Luxe Bamboo Washcloths, Luxe Bamboo Headband, and Luxe Bamboo Makeup Remover Pads, that are made out of such a hygienic resource. You can be comforted by the fact that these products are naturally antibacterial, absorbent, odor resistant and hypo-allergenic…. Oh and are biodegradable and are made from a sustainable resource

AGAVE SISALANA

Sisal is a 100% natural fiber derived from the Agave Sisalana succulent plant. It is a versatile and sustainable plant that is used to produce a variety of products. It generates mostly organic waste and since every part of the plant is used, sisal is an excellent renewable resource. The durable, natural fibres derived from the plant are naturally antimicrobial and biodegradable, making it the perfect resource for our Agave Washcloth.

Today, sisal is sustainably farmed across the world. Brazil, and right behind it, Tanzania, are the largest producers.

AMORPHOPHALLUS KONJAC

The amorphophallus konjac plant grows on slopes 2000 to 4000 feet
above sea level where it enjoys clean air and water. The plant has
multiple uses and benefits. The dietary fibre that is produced from the starchy corm of this porous root vegetable is used to help improve digestion, boost metabolism, reduce inflammation, and more. The root is also used to improve skin.

Sponges made from konjac can help cleanse the face with or without adding a cleanser. Their naturally antibacterial properties make them the perfect resource for a hygiene product and studies show they can help reduce acne. They gently exfoliate the skin to remove dirt and dead skin cells and stimulate circulation for regrowth. In fact, they are so gentle, they are often used to wash the skin of babies. Our Konjac Sponges are natural, biodegradable, and are made from a sustainable resource!

LUFFA

Luffa is a plant of the cucumber family. It is cultivated and consumed as a vegetable when harvested early on, but once ripe, the fibrous fruit of the plant become the source of the Luffa Sponge. The plant-based fibres can be used to help exfoliate dead skin cells, increase circulation, and make way for new cells. Removing dead skin cells can have your skin looking dull, and new cells will help make it glow. We love that it is a sustainable, plant-based alternative to plastic loofahs, which is why we have included a Vegetable Loofah in our natural self-care line.

ORGANIC ROSE OIL

Rose oil has numerous benefits. It can help increase libido, and protect against harmful bacteria and fungi. This natural oil that is extracted from rose petals is also known to help reduce anxiety, stress, and pain, making it the perfect ingredient in our Luxe Rose Petal Bath Bombs and Luxe Rose Petal Bath Salts.
